• בפתח חודש אלול, הגיע הזמן לחדש חברות בקהילת בית הכנסת, ובמסגרת זו גם להזמין מקומות בתפילות הימים הנוראים, ולעדכן מידע אישי שלכם לקראת פרסום מדריך חדש של חברי הקהילה – את כל כל זה תמצאו כאן.
• מדי יום ירושלים, קהילתנו זוכה לסייר באחת משכונות העיר עם מדריכת ירושלים האגדית, תמר הירדני. בסוף חודש אייר האחרון, היה זה במגרש הביתי שלנו – בקעה-גאולים – ותוך כך, תמר חשפה בפנינו מדוע בית הכנסת שלנו מככב כאחד מדובדבני סיור זה. והנה תמר העלתה את הדברים על הכתב, בפינה הירושלמית שלה בגיליון חודש אב של כתב-העת ההיסטורי "סגולה", המובאים כאן ברשותם האדיבה של תמר ושל מגזין סגולה, שכל הזכויות שמורות לו – ראו את המדור כאן.
• מזל טוב לצופיה וחנן קופיאצקי להולדת בתם, נכדה לסבים דניאל וזהבה טאוב ולארי ואליסון קופיאצקי, נינה לד"ר הנרי צבי גולדבלום. 
• דברי הרב וילק: הרב מודה לכל הפניות והעזרה. "השגנו כמה מחשבים ותרומות לקניית מחשבים, וכולם יגיעו ב״ה ליהודים הממתינים באדיס אבבה ובגונדר. כרגיל, גילינו שוב שהקהילה שלנו נדיבה, אכפתית ואוהבת אדם." 
• בימי הקיץ החמים מאוד האלה, חשוב שמערכות המיזוג שלנו יפעלו כראוי. לכן, אנו מבקשים מחברינו להקפיד שכל החלונות ודלתות הכניסה יישארו סגורים
• שיעוריו של הרב וילק יתקיימו השבת במתכונת הקבועה – דף יומי בשעה 6:30 בבוקר, ושיעור בין מנחה לערבית.
• הדלקת נרות שבת בשעה 18:49 –ראו עמוד זמני תפילה.

• • With Rosh Chodesh Elul here, it’s time to renew membership in our Kehilla, and additionally to reserve seats for the Yamim Noraim, and to update your contact info, as needed, prior to our pending publication of an updated members directory. You’ll be able to do all this here.
  • Mazal tov to Sophie and Chanan Kupietzky  on the birth of a daughter.  Mazal tov to grandparents Daniel and Zehava Taub and  Ari and Alison Kupietzky and to  great grandfather Dr. Henry Goldblum. 
  • from Rabbi Wilk: The Rabbi thanks everyone for all their help and donations; the computers that were received and the money for purchasing computers, and with God’s help, they will all reach the Jews waiting in Addis Ababa and Gondar.
    As usual, we have discovered once again that our community is generous, caring and loving towards others.
  • During these very hot summer days, it's important that our air conditioners be working properly. Therefore, we ask our members to make sure that all of the windows and the front doors remain closed. 
  • Rav Vilk will teach his shiur daf yomi at 6:30am, and his shiur between mincha and maariv on Shabbat.
  • Shabbat candle lighting is at 6:49pm – see our Times page.

• דברי הרב וילק: אני מלווה את קהילת שארית יהודי אתיופיה הממתינים לעליה. חזרתי לפני כמה ימים בעוד ביקור בקהילות הנפלאות שם, ואשמח לספר על הנושא לכל המעוניין. לצערי הצעירים בגונדר חסרי תעסוקה, בעיקר בגלל שבאתיופיה עובדים גם בשבת. הם זקוקים למחשבים ניידים. אם יש למי מכם מחשב במצב טוב, לא צריך חדש, ותוכלו למסור אותו אחרי מחיקת כל המידע, אשמח להעביר אליהם. מעבר לזה, אנו זקוקים למחשב חזק לאחד הצעירים, בעיקר לשימוש בAI ועריכה. תודה וגאולה שלמה בקרוב ב"ה.

• • Abby and Mordy Kehat invite you to kiddush this upcoming Shabbat, after the second minyan, to mark thirty years since their loss of Mordy's mother, Judy Kaufman-Hurwich a"h, and Abby's father, Murray Rick z"l.
  • During these very hot summer days, it's important that our air conditioners be working properly. Therefore, we ask our members to make sure that all of the windows and the front doors remain closed. 
  • from Rav Wilk: I have been accompanying those remaining of the Ethiopian Jewish community waiting to make Aliyah. I returned a few days ago from another visit to those wonderful communities, and I would be happy to speak about the topic with anyone interested. Unfortunately, the young people in Gondar are unemployed, mainly because in Ethiopia people also work on Shabbat. They are in need of laptops. If any of you have a computer in good condition—it doesn't have to be new—and can donate it after wiping out all personal data, I would be happy to pass it on to them. Besides that, we need a powerful computer for one of the young people, primarily for use in AI and editing. Thank you, and may we experience complete redemption soon, G-d willing

  אני מלווה את קהילת שארית יהודי אתיופיה הממתינים לעליה. חזרתי לפני כמה ימים מעוד ביקור בקהילות הנפלאות שם, ואשמח לספר על הנושא לכל המעוניין. לצערי הצעירים בגונדר חסרי תעסוקה, בעיקר בגלל שבאתיופיה עובדים גם בשבת. הם זקוקים למחשבים ניידים. אם יש למי מכם מחשב במצב טוב, לא צריך חדש, ותוכלו למסור אותו אחרי מחיקת כל המידע, אשמח להעביר אליהם. מעבר לזה, אנו זקוקים למחשב חזק לאחד הצעירים, בעיקר לשימוש ב-AI ועריכה.

• From Rav Vilk:
  I have been accompanying the remaining Ethiopian Jewish communities awaiting Aliyah. I returned a few days ago from another visit to those wonderful communities, and I would be happy to speak about the topic with anyone interested.
  Unfortunately, the young people in Gondar are unemployed, mainly because in Ethiopia people also work on Shabbat. They are in need of laptop computers. If any of you have a computer in good condition — it doesn't have to be new — and can donate it after wiping out all personal data, I would be happy to pass it on to them. We also need a powerful computer for one of the young people, primarily for use in AI and editing.
  Thank you, and may complete redemption come soon, G-d willing.
• Yaakov and Julie Schorr are sponsoring Kiddush this Shabbat, after the 9am minyan, on the occasion of the yahzeit of Yaakov's father, Moshe Schorr z"l.
• Lost and found:  If you lost a car key in shul, please notify the gabbai.
• Rav Vilk will not be giving his usual shiurim this Shabbat.
