הנחיות להגשת בקשה לסיוע מקרן הצדקה

Our Tzedakah Fund was initially established to help community members who normally "make do," but find themselves in untenable situations in which they can't cover sudden expenses. We continue to offer emergency, one-time limited grants (up to 4000NIS) to a target audience of Jerusalem residents who are known to, and referred by, a member of the kehila. The grants are provided to a family, individual or household, for a specific purpose (such as payment of services, purchase of specific items, outstanding bills, etc.) and paid directly to the supplier.

Thankfully, over the years we have been blessed to help a diverse group of people from the position of "benefactor." Of course, if G-d forbid, any of our own members are in need of support, we are here to help, while maintaining the same level of discretion and respect throughout the process.

If someone prefers to apply for a grant anonymously, please turn to Rav Vilk, or the Chairman of the Va'ad (currently Michael Gillis), or any other shul member who might be a personal sponsor. We will work with them to process the request insomuch as is allowed by regulations.

Instructions and data required for making a request

In order to apply for a grant, please complete the standard request form here and attach the following:

• Personal letter explaining the request and circumstances
• Copy of ID (teudat zehut), noting Jerusalem address of person requesting assistance
• Phone number of person requesting assistance
• Corroboration of circumstances leading to the request. (For example – a letter from an employer, social worker, Rav, and such. (This can also include employment termination notice, bank statement, disability reports, Bituah Leumi receipts, etc…)
• Invoice for the product/funding requested (Payment is issued to the person/company providing the product/service requested, not to the person making the request.)
• Name and contact info of the referring Shul member, and/or contact information for any representative if different from the person making the request, in order to expedite notification of the grant decision or when payment is ready.

Requests with all the above data can be sent to the Tzedakah Fund Committee, by e-mail to tzedakah@yael.org.il.

Of course, so that we as a community can continue to help those in need through these challenging times, the Tzedakah Fund requires contributions,. Please donate generously. (See "Payments/תשלומים" heading in Shul website.)

• Contributions can be made online here. Receipts will be sent by e-mail.
• Checks can be made out to “BEIT KNESSET EMEK REFAIM,” but should be clearly marked for the “TZEDAKAH FUND” (otherwise they are deposited in the shul’s general expenses account), and should be placed in the shul's mailbox in the Mens’ section.
• Bank transfer in NIS or other currencies — details can be obtained from the treasurer, Judah Elstein.
