Letters of Gratitude to our Charity Fund
בשנת 2013 חילקה הקרן כ-250,000₪ וב-2014 חילקה כ-190,000₪. רבים מהנצרכים אסירי תודה ומתארים תחושה זו ע"י משלוח מכתבי נרגשים ומרתקים. נראה כי חשוב להטעים את כל חברי הקהילה במעט מן המכתבים כדי לחשוף עד כמה חשובות תרומותיכם בלב רחב, ופעילות ועדת הצדקה. לפנינו שני מכתבים ונקווה להוסיף עוד מידי חודש בחודשו (השמות שונו).
During 2013, our Keren Tzedakah distributed approximately ₪250,000 — and in 2014 about ₪190,000. Many of the needy are full of gratitude and express their feelings in moving letters. It is worthwhile to share some of these letters with you to show just how significant your generous contributions—and the work of the charity committee—are. Below are two such letters, and we hope to distribute more in the future. (The names were changed to protect anonymity.)
לכבוד חברי בית כנסת עמק רפאים,
רציתי לספר לכם כמה אור ושמחה הכנסתם בביתנו, בתמיכתכם החשובה עד מאוד, כאשר בזכותכם שילמתי את החוב הענק במכולת, ובזכותכם הרבה ימים של ילדינו ייראו אחרת.
דעו כי ימים רבים, לא היה אוכל כראוי לילדים בבית, כי במכולת כבר לא נותנים לנו לרשום, ובצדק, ואני מחפשת עבודה נוספת בנרות, ועל כל שעת מילוי מקום "קופצת" כעל מוצאת שלל רב, ואמשיך בלי נדר להשתדל מאוד, אבל, למעשה, אין לי הרבה שעות בעבודת ההוראה, ולצערי, הסובלים העיקריים אלו ילדי. בהיותם יתומים, הינם רגישים עוד יותר מן הרגיל. היו ימים שהלכו לבית מדרש וחיפשו, אולי גם היום תהיה חלוקת לחם (כי לפעמים יש מי שמחלק כדי שיהיו לו זכויות. זה נקרא "שלח לחמך" מין סגולה כזאת) כי נמאס שאין מספיק לחם בבית וצריך לחשב כל כיכר, כמה פרוסות יש להשאיר למחר, …וכו'.
בזכותכם, ילדי יקבלו כעת גם מוצרי חלב ולחם יותר ברווח ובלי חשבון. נתתם לי המון כח ולילדי הרבה תקווה.אני מאוד מודה לכם, ומברכת אתכם מעומק לבי שתמיד יהיה לכם רק טוב, ולכל יוצאי חלציכם. בהערכה ותודה עמוקה

To the Members of Bet Knesset Emek Refaim:
I wanted to let you know how much light and joy you have brought into our home through your vital support, since because of you I have been able to pay off a huge debt at the grocery store, and thanks to you the future of our children now looks different.
You should know that there were many days on which our children did not eat properly, because the store would not extend our credit any further—justifiably—while I was desperately searching for additional work, with substitutions popping up as a special reward, and I will continue, bli neder, to try very hard, but in practice I don’t have that many hours of teaching, and unfortunately, the main victims of this are my children. As orphans, they are even more sensitive than others. There have been days when they set off for school in the hope that that day there might a distribution of bread (as sometimes an individual will distribute bread in order to earn a spiritual reward, known as “Cast your bread . . .”, a type of segulah) because they were so upset that there was so little bread at home that we had to consider every slice, and how many we would leave over for the next day….
Thanks to you, my children will now enjoy dairy products and bread in generous measure. You have given me so much strength and my children so much hope. I thank you so much and bless you from the depths of my heart that things will always go well for you, and for your children.

לכבוד עמותת ביה"כ עמק רפאים
שמי רחל והנני אמא ל-12 ילדים כן ירבו כאשר חלק מהם לוקים בבעיות נלוות הדורשות טיפול רב. בני שלמה בן ה-14 סובל ממרווחים גדולים ביותר בין השיניים, דבר המקשה מאוד על הלעיסה וכן על הביטחון העצמי. בזכות תרומתכם הנדיבה נוכל כעת לממן לו טיפול ליישור השיניים, טיפול שישקם ראשית כל את דימויו העצמי, וכן יקל על מערכת העיקול שמתקשה עקב לעיסתו הפגומה.
למותר לציין כי טיפול זה נדרש היה להיעשות כבר בגיל 10, אך מחוסר אמצעים דחינו זאת מיום ליום, ובעזרת תרומתכם הנדיבה נוכל להתחיל את הטיפול ברגע האחרון לפני שהילד מתחיל בתהליך ההתבגרות, שאז הטיפול ארוך יותר ואפקטיבי פחות.
שתזכו תמיד להקל, ולהיות מן הנותנים במקומות הנצרכים, ושהקב"ה ישלח לכם שפע!

My name is Rachel and I am the mother of 12 children, ken yirbu, some of whom suffer from various problems that require considerable care. My 14-year-old son Shlomo suffers from unusually wide gaps in his teeth which makes it difficult for him to chew and this affects his self-image. Because of your generous gift, we are now able to afford treatment to straighten his teeth, which will restore his self-confidence and will restore his ability to chew, which had been impaired because of his flawed bite.
It goes without saying that this treatment should have been done when he was 10, but because we lacked the means we kept postponing it, and with the help of your generous gift we can start it just in time before he begins growing, after which the procedure would have been both longer and less effective.
