ביום חמישי 26 במאי בשעה 16:00 נקיים את הסיור המסורתי, הפעם בשכונת נחלאות. המפגש יהיה בכיכר שלפני הכניסה המזרחית לבניין כלל, ממול לדוידקה. נוח להגיע באוטובוס 18 ולשוב בו. הבאים בריכבם יוכלו לחנות בחניונים הסמוכים. משך הסיור כשלוש שעות. יהיה תרגום סימולטני לאנגלית.
נחלאות – עדה עדה וחצרה
נסייר בשכונה ונשמע על בתי הכנסת ובורות המים, על תרבויות, מאכלים ומנהגים. מה בין חצר אשכנזית לחלבית, כורדית או פרסית? דרך מאכלי העדות: קלסונס, חמין, קוגל, קובה ועוד, נלמד על זהות וזיכרונות התושבים.
בין חצרות ובתים, בעקבות מנהגים, מסורות וזיכרונות של בני העדות אשר התקבצו ובאו לירושלים מכל קצוות תבל: תימנים ופרסים, גרוזינים וכורדים, אשכנזים וספרדים. נשמע על אחד מ-ל"ו צדיקים שהתגורר בדירת חדר, על בית מרזח שהפך לבית תפילה, על גביר חשוך בנים שהקים שכונה, על בוסתן ספרדי ועוד. יחד ניצור מארג מרתק ופסיפס אנושי חם ומרגש. נקנח בשוק מחנה יהודה, בחגיגה של צבעים ומראות ססגוניים.
בין האתרים בשכונות בנחלאות: אבן ישראל, בתי גורל, מזכרת משה, אוהל משה, בתי ברוידא, שוק מחנה יהודה.

סעודה שלישית
בשבת פר' במדבר תתקיים הסעודה המסורתית לכבוד יום ירושלים בחצר בית הכנסת, לאחר תפילת מנחה שתתחיל ב- 18:45. כל החברים ישתדלו לבוא ולחגוג בצוותא את שחרור ירושלים ופיתוחה הלא ייאמן. חברנו מוטי קהת יספר על ישראל עמיר שהיה מפקד מחוז ירושלים במלחמת תש"ח.
מאד נעריך התנדבות חברים וחברות בהתארגנות ופירוק סעודה זו.
Yom Yerushalayim: 2 Special Programs
Walking Tour: Nahlaot “Colorful Courtyards and Human Mosaic”
Join our annual Yom Yerushalayim walking tour. This year’s 3-hour guided tour to the Nahlaot neighborhood will take place on Thursday, May 26 (25 Iyyar), from 4:00-7:00pm. A staff member of Yad Izhak Ben-Zvi will guide us, with simultaneous English translation by Mordy Kehat.
We will meet at the plaza in front of the eastern entrance of the Clal Center Building (opposite the Davidka). You can get there by several bus routes, including #18. Those arriving by car will find parking in one of several nearby parking lots.
We will visit Nahlaot’s quaint courtyards, each with its communal water cistern and homes lining the courtyard. We’ll hear of many vibrant Jewish ethnic groups who dwelled in the courtyards, each having added to Jerusalem’s special character.
We’ll hear about their foods, folkways and everyday life. From tales of outstanding individuals, to the traditional cuisines of Yemenite, Kurdish, Georgian, Syrian, Sefardi and Ashkenazi residents– it will be a fascinating glimpse into the human mosaic that is Nahlaot.
Please bring water — and, if appropriate, a hiking chair.

On Shabbat afternoon, Parshat Bamidbar, you are warmly invited to our kehilla’s annual seudah in honor of Yom Yerushalayim, in the shul courtyard at 6:45pm, after minchah. Mordy Kehat will share the story of Yisrael Amir, commander of the Jerusalem district in Israel’s War of Independence.
We will greatly appreciate volunteer help with set-up and take-down of the meal.
