הכנסת אורחים – חיילים ישׂראלים מתגיירים ליהדות

התבקשנו ע"י נתיב, התוכנית לגיור בצה"ל, לארח 20 חיילים וחיילות לשבת בעוד שבועיים, פרשת תולדות, 2 – 3 דצמבר. מדובר בקבוצת מתגיירים עולים בראשית דרכם.

יבואו החיילים בזוגות (בנים או בנות) ויתארחו לשבת שלמה, כולל לינה וארוחות. יבואו עם המארחים לתפילות ואולי נארגן פעילות חברתית לכל הקבוצה. לכל מי שמעונין לארח נוציא דף הסבר מפורט.

הכנסת האורחים של החיילים היא מצווה חשובה במיוחד לאור המצב של עולים והקשיים שהם נתקלים בהם בתהליך הגיור.

בשלב זה אנחנו רוצים לגייס את 10 משפחות שמוכנות לארח. מי שמעונין לארח, מתבקש ליצור קשר עם סטיב זרובניק ב steven@keshetisrael.co.il או בטלפון 054.313.3728 עד יום ג', 22.11.

Beit Knesset Emek Refaim has been asked by Nativ, the educational program for conversion in the IDF, to host 20 soldiers over Shabbat Parshat Toldot, December 2-3. These soldiers are at the very beginning of the process of their conversion to Judaism. This Hachnasat Orchim is particularly important because of the difficulties that these immigrant soldiers often encounter in their conversion process.

We are looking for hosts for the entire Shabbat. Soldiers will eat meals with their host families and attend tefilot. We hope to organize a social activity for the entire group at some point over the Shabbat. Soldiers will come in pairs of 2 men or 2 women.

At this point we're looking for 10 families who will show their hospitality and commit to host. We will provide more details to the host families at a later date.   • קיבלנו השבוע מסטיב טוברמן סרטון קצר שצולם בברית מילה של דניאל טוֹברמן בהושענא רבה בדיוק לפני 25 שנה.
  • בסרטון תוכלו לראות את עזרת הגברים כפי שנראתה לפני השיפוץ הגדול — (ואף בדקה 4:07 כמה שניות של אזור עזרת הנשים).
  • שיפוץ בית הכנסת נגמר בשנת 2000 ע״י ועד הבנייה שלנו (גֵ׳יין מֶדוֶוד, דַייאן רוזנשיין, והרב ברוך רקובסקי ז״ל). כאן תרשים של הבנין לפני השיפוץ.

1991 Video

  • This week we received from Steve Toberman a short video which was filmed at Daniel Toberman's brit milah on Hoshana Rabbah exactly one quarter century ago.
  • In the video, you can see the men's section of the shul as it appeared before our big renovation (with a couple of seconds view at 4:07 of where the women's section was).
  • The renovation was completed in the summer of 2000 by our building committee (Jane Medved, Diane Rosenschein, and Rabbi Baruch Rackovsky ז״ל). Here is a diagram of the previous floor plan.
  • More importantly, you will see several of our dear members: the ba'alei simcha, Dina Herbet-Toberman and Steve Toberman, also Aharon Rivlin, Meir Edelstein, Miriam Steiner, David Steiner ז״ל, Yosef Bronstein ז״ל, David Greenwald ז״ל, Avraham Seligman ז״ל, and Shaul Weinstein ז״ל.

כמה מחברות הקהילה ביקשו לממש השנה קריאת נשים בשמחת תורה בבית המדרש. הבקשה אושרה ע"י הועד ותבוצע על פי אישורו והדרכתו של הרב וילק כמפורט במכתבו המצורף.

The request was approved by the Va'ad and will be performed in compliance with Rabbi Vilk's approval and instructions, as detailed in the attached letter (in Hebrew and now also translated into English).
