We received an appeal from the regional welfare department regarding purchasing schoolbooks for needy family from the neighborhood. Whoever can contribute is encouraged to by the end of next week. Checks can be made out to Beit Knesset Emek Refaim, and we will aggregate and transfer the funds.

We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Jeremy Barkan, who passed away Monday night after a long struggle with cancer. The funeral will take place on Thursday, June 28, at the Eretz Hachaim Cemetery, Beit Shemesh at 12 noon (or approximately 2 hours after the arrival of United #84, if the flight is delayed).

May Gd comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

אסיפה כללית

אי"ה במוצאי שבת קודש פרשת "שלח לך" כ"ו סיון תשע"ב – 16.06.12 בשעה 20:30 תיכף אחרי תפילת ערבית, תתקיים האסיפה הכללית של העמותה.

סדר היום:

  1. בחירת יו"ר האסיפה, והמזכיר.
  2. סקירת פעולות השנה החולפת על ידי יו"ר הועד.
  3. דו"ח ועדת בקורת.
  4. הצגת מאזן ודו"ח רווח והפסד לשנת 2011, דיון ואישור ע"י הגזבר.
  5. אישור רו"ח.
  6. בחירת ועד חדש ו-ועדת ביקורת.
  7. דו"ח מילולי.
  8. דיון כללי: על מקומות ישיבה, שונות, וכו'.

חברי בית הכנסת מתבקשים לבוא ולקחת חלק באסיפה הכללית.

On Saturday evening, after Shabbat Lech-Lecha, June 16, at 8:30PM, immediately following Maariv, there will be a general meeting of the Beit Knesset.

Agenda:

  1. Selection of chairman and secretary of the meeting.
  2. Overview of the year's activity by the chairman of the va'ad.
  3. Audit committee report.
  4. Presentation of financials: balance sheet and profit & loss statement for 2011, with authorization of the treasurer.
  5. Approval of the annual financial reports.
  6. Selection of the va'ad and audit committee.
  7. Additional report.
  8. General discussion: seats, etcs.

Members are urged to come and take part in the general meeting.

טקס ערב יום השואה והגבורה

ביום רביעי אור כ"ז בניסן תשע"ב 18.4.2012 בשעה 19:45 יתקיים טקס בהנחיית אברהם בנמלך.

תכנית

  • תפילת ערבית
  • טקס הדלקת 6 משואות לזכר ששת המליונים. את המשואות ידליקו שישה ניצולים מקרב חברי הקהילה.
  • סיפורה המיוחד של הגברת איטה בן חיים, ילידת פולין.
  • קריאת פרק ל"ז בספר יחזקאל
  • קדיש
  • קריאת קינה על השואה שחיבר המשורר דוד שמעוני
  • אל מלא רחמים
  • שירת "התקווה" ו"אני מאמין"

    • משך הטקס כשעה ומחצה. כל תושבי בקעה והסביבה מוזמנים להשתתף בטקס בבית הכנסת ברחוב יעל 4, שכונת בקעה. הטקס מוקדש לזכרם של ניצולי השואה אשר היו בין מקימי בית כנסת 'עמק רפאים' ושהלכו לעולמם. יהי זכרם ברוך

    Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony

    On Wednesday, 27 Nissan, April 18, at 7:45pm, we will hold a memorial ceremony, to be moderated by Avraham Benmelech.

    Program:

    • מעריב
    • Lighting of 6 candles in memory of the Six Million — the candles will be lit by survivors among the congregation
    • The personal story of Mrs. Ita Ben-Hayim, a native of Poland
    • Reading of Chapter 37, Book of Ezekiel
    • קדיש
    • Reading of a special קינה, written by the poet David Shimoni
    • אל מלא רחמים
    • Singing of התקווה and אני מאמין

    The program will last around 90 minutes. Everyone is invited. The ceremony is dedicated to the beloved memory of the survivors ז"ל among our congregation's founders who are no longer with us. May their memories be a blessing.
