קרן הצדקה
עלינו לשבח את חברי קהילתנו על כך שמידי שנה מצליחים להגדיל את סך התרומות לקרן הצדקה ובכך להדגיש את האחריות של החברים למעשי צדקה וחסד כחלק בסיסי של פעילות הקהילה. בשנת 2015 תרמתם מעל לרבע מליון ש"ח, כולל הפרויקט של "מקימי" שהצליח, ועל כל אלה – "יישר כח". אנו מבקשים ומפצירים להמשיך במאמץ מבורך זה גם ב-2016 כדי שנוכל להיענות לבקשות רבות יותר של הנזקקים.
לאחרונה גם פנינו ללשכות הרווחה בשכונת קטמון ובשכונות בקעה ותלפיות כדי לקבל בקשות גם מהסביבה הקרובה לנו. ידוע לכל כי תקציבי הרווחה מכסים רק חלק מצרכי העניים. העובדות הסוציאליות מצפות מאתנו שנעזור לרבים שסובלים ממחסור ואינם יכולים לזכות במענה הולם. נציג בפניכם כמה בקשות משלשת החדשים האחרונים, דגימות מעטות מפעילות ועדת הצדקה:
- עזרנו בסך 4000 ש"ח לרפוי שיניים לאם המשפחה. המשפחה מתגוררת בדירת 48 מ"ר ולה 11 ילדים, כשהקטן שבהם לוקה בתסמונת דאון ודורש מסירות מיוחדת, זמן רב ומשאבים רבים. מי יודע אם ללא עזרתנו היתה זוכה לטיפול חשוב זה.
- קנינו מזגנים לחימום שני חדרי שינה של הילדים. במשפחה 18 נפשות בדירת 95 מ"ר וברור כי היא נמצאית בקשיים כלכליים באופן תמידי ולוחץ.
- נתנו סיוע בתשלום חשבונות שוטפים שחלקם תחת איום סגירה: חשמל, גז,מים וארנונה. למשפחה 4 ילדים והמצב הכלכלי קשה. האם נכה , פיזית ונפשית וגם האב חולה.
- משפחה בת 12 נפשות קיבלה הוראה לנתק את מכשיר היונקרס המיושן מחשש להרעלה, בהנחיה ממשלתית. ההכנסות של המשפחה אינן מאפשרות רכישה זו ואמנם קיבלה עזרה חלקית מקרן הצדקה לרכישת תנור חדשני ובטוח.
- סבתא בת 64 המגדלת בביתה שלושה מנכדיה, שאמם איננה מסוגלת לטפל בהם, קבלה מאתנו מכונת כביסה מתאימה לאחר שהקודמת שבקה חיים.
- וגם בת 66 המטפלת בקשישים ויש לה קושי להתמודד אל מול חובותיה, קבלה מהקרן מענק לרכישת ביגוד חם בסך 600 ש"ח.
מאחרי כל אחת מהדוגמאות דלעיל עומדות משפחות ששקועות בצרות רבות ותמיד ללא הכנסה מספקת למילוי צרכים מינימליים משולבות בבעיות בריאות ונכות. הסיוע שאנו נותנים אינו מוציא אותן לגמרי מהבור בו הן שקועות אבל מצליח לתקן לחלוטין פינה אחת שמאוד לוחצת עליהן.
הועדה מקפידה לודא כי אמנם כל מי שזוכה בעזרה עונה בודאות על הגדרת עניותו. הועדה בוחנת בדקדקנות את המסמכים המוגשים: מסמכי משרד הרווחה, מסמכים רפואיים ונתונים נוספים ורק לאחר שיקול מעמיק וכולל מאשרות את הבקשות.
בכל חודש אנו מעניקים עזרה לחמש עד שמונה משפחות נזקקות. בחדשים האחרונים הגיעה ההוצאה החדשית לכ- 25000 ש"ח בחודש. כדי לעמוד בכך אנו מבקשים להמשיך ולתרום למען מטרה נעלה זו.

Our Keren Tzedakah (Charity Fund)
We must commend the members of our community who year after year succeed in increasing their contributions to the Charity Fund, and thus highlighting the responsibility of our members to acts of kindness and charity as a basic part of our communal activities. In 2015, you donated more than a quarter of a million shekalim, including the successful “Mikimi” project, and for all of this “Yashar koach.” We seek and encourage the continuance of this sacred effort also in 2016 so that we can respond to the many requests of those in need.
Recently we have also dealt with the welfare offices in Katamon, Baka, and Talpiot in order to take care of the requests of those in our neighborhood. Everyone knows that the welfare budgets cover only part of the needs of the poor. The social workers look to us to help many of those in need whom they are unable to help appropriately. Here are some of the requests received in the last three months, just a few samples of the Charity Fund’s activities:
- We granted NIS 4,000 for dental work for a mother. The family lives in an apartment of 48 square meters and has 11 children, the youngest of whom has Down syndrome and requires special attention, time, and resources. Who knows if without our help she could get this important treatment.
- We purchased air conditioning units to heat two children’s bedrooms for a family of 18 members who live in a 95 square meter apartment and who are constantly in financial difficulties.
- We assisted in paying some current utility bills—electricity, gas, water, and taxes—when some of these services were threatened with termination. This was for a family of four children, where the economic situation is tough. The mother is disabled, mentally and physically, and the father is also sick.
- A family of 12 was instructed by a government directive to disconnect their old-fashioned Junkers (heating system) for fear of poisoning. The family’s income did not allow for purchasing a safe new heating system and so they were given partial aid from the Charitable Fund.
- A 64-year-old grandmother, who is raising three grandchildren in her home as their mother is unable to care for them, received a new washing machine from us after her old one died.
- And a 66-year-old woman who works with the elderly, and who has difficulty dealing with her debts, received a grant from the Fund for the purchase of warm clothing in the sum of NIS 600.
Behind each of the above examples are families mired in trouble, without sufficient income to meet their minimal needs, combined with issues of health and disability. The aid which we provide is not enough to extricate them from the depths in which they find themselves, but does succeed in relieving some of the pressures that bear down on them.
The committee is careful to make sure that anyone who gets help definitely meets the definition of poverty. The committee carefully scrutinizes the documents that are submitted: Welfare Office documents, medical records, and other data, and only after careful consideration does it grant the requests.
Each month we are giving assistance to five to eight families in need. In recent months the outlay has come to about NIS 25,000 per month. To meet that, we ask that you continue to contribute to this worthy cause.
